The Technological Institute of Aragon (ITA) , Aragon Hydrogen Foundation (FHa) and University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR) recently held the consortium meeting of the Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Program, where significant advances in various areas of research and development were presented.
During the meeting, progress in the LA1 line of optimizing electrolysis systems was highlighted. Tests have been conducted with three low-temperature hydrogen production technologies using the infrastructure available at our facilities. These tests are crucial for characterizing the behavior of each technology and their specific integration according to control strategies, allowing different use cases to be tested. To date, cold start, hot start, and partial load tests have been carried out. In the coming months, we will continue with tests to primarily analyze the dynamic behavior of these systems in response to power or demand fluctuations.
Additionally, during the meeting, we also shared the status of the LA6.A3 line – refurbishment of our 700-bar hydrogen refueling station (HRS), which is currently in the commissioning phase. Various components are being adjusted, and the 500 and 900-bar storage tanks are being filled, currently at 60% capacity. Once this process is completed, the dispenser and chiller will be put into service, aiming to achieve vehicle refueling times of less than 5 minutes. These tests will be conducted using our fuel cell vehicle: Hyundai Nexo.
These advances reflect the consortium’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, positioning Aragon at the forefront of renewable hydrogen technology development.
