HyCooler: a revolutionary project for hydrogen refueling stations

A new project, HyCooler, promises to revolutionize the hydrogen refueling sector, especially for heavy-duty vehicles. This project will develop a compact and efficient pre-cooling system specifically designed for hydrogen refueling stations. Currently, these vehicles lack a standardized operational protocol, making this initiative even more relevant. The primary goal is to validate a component on a test bench that can be directly integrated into refueling stations. This component will be versatile, easy to install, modular, and cost-competitive, aligning with the objectives of the Hydrogen Roadmap.

Role of the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation

At the Foundation, we are responsible for designing and developing a test bench at our facilities, capable of subjecting the equipment to tests to confirm its proper functionality. The test bench will have the capacity to simulate the filling of a heavy-duty vehicle tank at 350 bar, controlling the filling flow. Additionally, it will monitor all test conditions to compare the results with numerical simulations and regulatory data.

This project not only represents a significant technological advancement but also an important step towards the effective implementation of hydrogen refueling stations, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient future in heavy-duty vehicle transportation. We are very excited to team up on this project with our partner, Sfice Innovative Minds
