We celebrate the 44th Board of Trustees meeting with updates on the 35 research initiatives we participated in during 2024

We conclude 2024 with participation in 35 projects, a 30% increase in client Initiatives, and look to the future with optimism. As we close 2024, we are proud to announce our involvement in 35 projects, marking a 30% increase in initiatives carried out for clients. Looking ahead, we focus on three key pillars: enhancing business competitiveness through collaboration, innovation, and technology development; fostering education and attracting talent to the sector; and engaging with society by disseminating research and promoting hydrogen education at our facilities.

The meeting was presided over by Mar Vaquero, Second Vice President, Minister of Presidency, Economy and Justice of the Government of Aragon, and President of the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation. The session reviewed the activities carried out over the past year and outlined plans for 2025. As an institutional novelty, we welcomed the Directorate General of Energy and Mines of the DGA to the Board of Trustees, which will optimize the Foundation’s activities and those of its patrons related to sustainable energy transition in Aragon. This addition will also enhance the development of projects aligned with strategic objectives and strengthen our commitment to innovation and sustainable development in the energy sector.

As leaders in the coordination and development of hydrogen projects, we have worked on 35 projects throughout 2024, with 12 already completed. Of the ongoing projects, 17 are European and 6 are national. Among the completed projects, we highlight HIGH2-Furnaces, carried out with the Aragonese company Kalfrisa, aimed at developing industrial hybrid furnaces that operate with hydrogen.

We continue to work on the LIFE Zero EnergyMod project with our board member ARPA. This project aims to design, build, and test autonomous habitable modules powered by hydrogen fuel cell batteries, suitable for use in environments where connection to traditional energy grids is not possible. We also presented the upgrade of our 700-bar hydrogen refueling station, co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Government of Aragon. This significant technical advancement makes the Foundation’s hydrogen station at the Walqa Technology Park the third in the country to reach this pressure level, greatly extending the range of vehicles refueling there, comparable to traditional fuels.

Externally, we have strengthened our international presence not only by leading various projects but also by participating in roundtables, visits to entities, exhibitions, and events such as the European Hydrogen Week in Brussels, where the EveryWh2ere project was awarded for its contribution to the development of innovative hydrogen technologies.
