Summary and objectives

The main objective of Hy2Market is to achieve a more mature hydrogen value chain across Europe. Through an interregional approach, the project aims to generate knowledge and foster innovation in the hydrogen sector.

The Aragon Hydrogen Foundation (FHa) and the consortium partners focus on:

Targeted investments in green hydrogen production, with a focus on management systems.
Hydrogen transport using both new and existing infrastructure.
Procurement of green hydrogen by industrial and mobility partners.

Hy2Market brings together a diverse group of regions contributing to a robust hydrogen ecosystem: Northern Netherlands, Upper Austria, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (France), Aragon (Spain), Asturias (Spain), Castile and León (Spain), Médio Tejo (Portugal), Sicily (Italy), Western Macedonia (Greece), and Constanța (Romania). These regions work closely with SMEs and regional entities to improve the hydrogen ecosystem both locally and across Europe.

The role of the foundation

In the Hy2Market project, the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation (FHa) will lead the deployment of a hydrogen bus pilot in Huesca to demonstrate the real-world viability of hydrogen-powered public transport.

The strategic responsibilities of FHa include:

Coordinating key stakeholders.
Adapting its hydrogen refuelling station (HRS) for the pilot.
Overseeing the operation and monitoring of the vehicle.

This pilot aims to validate hydrogen as a sustainable mobility solution, reduce emissions, and assess the potential for regional scale-up. Through this initiative, FHa expects to generate valuable data, build public trust, and foster collaboration for future hydrogen-related developments.

Regional Innovation and Impact

Through its role in Hy2Market, FHa will reinforce Aragón’s positioning as a regional hub for hydrogen innovation. By connecting local institutions, research centres, and industry players around a real-life use case, the project will foster institutional engagement and promote knowledge transfer. Furthermore, the pilot will serve as a learning platform to train local stakeholders and support the long-term adoption of hydrogen technologies.
