Celebrating Innovation and Sustainability at the National Coordination Technical Committee of the Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Program

The Technological Institute of Aragon (ITA) and the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation (FHa) reaffirm their commitment to innovation and sustainability by participating in the recent meeting of the National Coordination Technical Committee of the Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Program. This event, organized by the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT), took place in Madrid on December 11th.

During the meeting, the technical advances of the Autonomous Communities involved in the Plan were presented, including Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Navarra, Aragon, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, Extremadura, and the Canary Islands.

Aragon, represented by ITA and FHa, is at the forefront of research and development in renewable hydrogen, with innovative projects in various areas. These are the lines of work:

  • LA1. Green hydrogen generation at low temperature: Harnessing renewable energy to produce hydrogen efficiently and sustainably.
  • LA3. High-temperature hydrogen generation: Exploring new frontiers in hydrogen production through advanced technologies.
  • LA4. Hydrogen and biomethane generation from biomass: Integrating biotechnological solutions for cleaner energy production.
  • LA6. Development of systems for the storage and supply of green hydrogen: Innovating in hydrogen logistics for efficient use.
  • LA7. Applications of hydrogen in heavy transport, aviation, and maritime sectors: Promoting sustainable mobility with hydrogen technologies.
  • LA8 and LA10. Industrial uses of hydrogen: Reducing CO2 emissions and improving industrial processes through the use of hydrogen as a chemical agent.
  • LA11. Techno-economic studies and market launches: Assessing feasibility and promoting the adoption of hydrogen technologies.
  • LA12. Coordination and dissemination: Leading project coordination and fostering the training of new researchers.

The Complementary Plan for Renewable Energy and Hydrogen, in which ITA, FHa, and the University of Zaragoza collaborate, is a key component of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. This strategic plan, funded by the Next Generation EU funds, aims to modernize the Spanish economy, promote economic growth, and create jobs, building a solid, inclusive, and resilient economy to face future challenges.

Through their active participation in this program,  Technological Institute of Aragon, Aragon Hydrogen Foundation, and the University of Zaragoza demonstrate leadership in the innovation sector and their commitment to a sustainable future.
