An eclipse to look toward the future: energy, cosmos, and hydrogen
We join the outreach programme promoted by the Government of Aragón on the occasion of the total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, an exceptional astronomical event that will turn our region into an international reference point for scientific observation and public engagement.
As part of this programme, our colleague Guillermo García‑Burguera, chemist and science communicator at the Foundation, will offer two public talks at the Official Observation Points:
Day 11 · 4:00 p.m. · Épila
Day 11 · 6:30 p.m. · Cariñena
Experience the 2026 eclipse with us. A journey from the origin of the universe to the energy of the future
In these sessions, the solar eclipse becomes the gateway to a fascinating journey through the origin of energy and the role of hydrogen in the evolution of the universe. Even though the Moon will hide the Sun’s light for a few minutes, its engine will keep running: hydrogen, the element that has powered the stars for more than 4.5 billion years.
Guillermo García‑Burguera will guide attendees through a narrative that connects cosmology, physics, chemistry and the energy transition, from the Big Bang to the most innovative technologies driving the development of renewable hydrogen today. A visual, accessible and engaging talk designed for all audiences, connecting science, energy, space and society through the most abundant element in the universe.
Aragón as a hub for scientific outreach
The participation of the Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón in this programme reinforces our commitment to scientific dissemination, the energy transition, and the promotion of renewable hydrogen as a key vector for a more sustainable future. The Government of Aragón has brought together communicators and researchers from leading scientific and technological institutions to offer activities, screenings and content that will help the public understand the astronomical phenomenon and enjoy the natural and cultural heritage of the host municipalities.
Hydrogen: energy of the universe, energy of the future
At the Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón, we continue working to bring scientific knowledge closer to society and to show how renewable hydrogen can help build a cleaner, safer and more sustainable energy model.
