Application of hydrogen valley modelling: Aragon Hydrogen Foundation participates in TRIERES workshop in Greece

Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón (FHa) participated in the TRIERES hydrogen valley workshop: “Hydrogen Innovation for Regional Growth – Enhancing Mobility and Local Value Chains: The Peloponnese Case”, held on June 11, 2025, in Agioi Theodoroi (Corinth, Greece), under the auspices of the Region of Peloponnese and the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi.

The event brought together more than 90 in-person participants and over 60 online attendees, from 28 countries, including representatives from public institutions, industry, research centers, and universities. All shared a common goal: to explore the potential of small-scale hydrogen solutions and their role in local and regional contexts, with special attention to mobility and the development of local value chains.

Alberto Herranz, representing the Foundation, spoke on a panel focused on the creation of local and regional hydrogen economies, where he shared the experience of the European projects GetHyGA (Green Hydrogen in Aragon) and SH2AMROCK (Green Hydrogen in Ireland).

“We were invited to the workshop organized by TRIERES, the first hydrogen valley in Greece. An excellent opportunity to represent the GetHyGA and SH2AMROCK projects and share our experience in replicating hydrogen valley models in different regions,” explains Herranz. “We also reaffirmed our commitment to cooperation between hydrogen regions and projects across Europe,” he points out.

The event featured the participation of prominent figures from institutional and European energy sectors, including:

  • Christos Dimas, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport
  • Nikolaos Tagaras, Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy
  • Dimitrios Ptochos, Governor of the Region of Peloponnese
  • Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe
  • Dionisis Tsimis, Project Officer, Clean Hydrogen Partnership
  • Stefano Campagnolo, Project Officer, CINEA
  • Representatives from the European Commission, transport operators, and energy companies

The program was structured around four technical panels:

  • Building local and regional hydrogen economies
  • Hydrogen-based mobility
  • Impact from policy and regulation
  • Hydrogen technologies and infrastructure

The event concluded with a technical visit to Greece’s first hydrogen refueling station (AVIN HRS) and a networking gala at the emblematic Corinth Canal, consolidating a highly valuable day for the advancement of hydrogen in Europe.

Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón thus continues to strengthen its role as a key player in the construction of a European hydrogen ecosystem, sharing best practices and promoting technical cooperation among regions.
