Resumen y objetivos

Summary and objectives

Driving Renewable Energy Integration in Isolated Areas

The PROGRESIA project aims to build the foundation for a more efficient use of renewable energy resources in economic activities located in off-grid environments—areas without access to the national electricity grid. This initiative is vital for rural sectors across Navarra and Aragon, such as extensive farming, nature-based tourism and hospitality, and various agricultural and forestry operations.

To achieve energy independence from fossil fuels, PROGRESIA goes beyond small-scale renewable generation by integrating electric mobility and advanced energy storage systems. The core of the project involves developing probabilistic models to better understand demand variability and the technical requirements needed to meet these needs through clean, reliable sources.

El papel de la fundación

The role of the foundation

The Aragon Hydrogen Foundation (FHa) is responsible for Work Package 3, leading all activities related to technology assessment and the design of hybrid energy systems. The FHa’s primary role is to ensure the project’s technical feasibility through:

  • Technology Analysis: Evaluating available solutions for power generation and storage in grid-isolated environments.

  • Advanced Storage Solutions: Placing a strong emphasis on green hydrogen and battery systems as key enablers for energy stability.

  • Standardized System Modeling: Developing hybrid configurations tailored to different rural business profiles and self-sufficiency scenarios.

  • Management Strategies: Designing optimization tools for energy management and sustainable mobility integration.
