H2PiyR

Hydrogen Corridor for the Pyrenean Region
July 2016 - December 2021

SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the Hydrogen Corridor for the Pyrenees Region (H2PiyR) project is the development of a cross-border corridor of refueling stations for hydrogen vehicles connecting Spain, France and Andorra with central and northern Europe, where deployment of infrastructure associated with this type of sustainable mobility without emissions is more advanced.

H2PiyR will be a true full-scale test bench in which will be demonstrating the advantages of using hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs). Among other objectives, it will allow the creation of a mobility network with hydrogen between the different countries of the European Union, reduce the emissions associated with traditional vehicles, boost local economies, promote business opportunities, especially for SMEs, and promote Innovation in hydrogen technologies in all areas of knowledge needed to start the corridor.

To achieve this, 6 new hydrogen supply stations will be built to generate clean hydrogen from renewable energies and will be strategically located in Spain (Zaragoza, Huesca, Fraga and Tarragona), Andorra and France (Pamiers). To these will be added the already operational in Huesca (Walqa Technological Park) and Zaragoza (Valdespartera), as well as the two that are being built in the south of France (Rodez and Albi), to complete a park of 10 hydrogen supply stations in total. The project also includes 16 electric hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, of which 6 will be passenger cars, 8 vans and 2 buses. In addition to the partners, the program also collaborates with other institutions such as the Huesca and Jaca Town Councils or the Midi-Pyrénées Region. For the planned deployment of infrastructures, the project has the support of the relevant departments in the area of Industry of the different regions involved.
