Renewable ammonia: FHa joins the debate to decide the key vector for hydrogen

Aragon Hydrogen Foundation will take part in the II National Renewable Ammonia Conference, organized by the Spanish Association for Renewable Ammonia (AEAR) on October 28th at the Hotel Rafael Atocha in Madrid.

Our director, José María Santa Bárbara, will join the roundtable discussion titled “The Role of Ammonia in Renewable Hydrogen Strategies”, scheduled from 10:10 to 11:00 AM and moderated by AVALON. The session will explore perspectives from various sectors on how renewable ammonia can contribute to the decarbonization of the Spanish economy.

Ammonia is one of the most essential chemical products in modern society. However, its current production methods are not sustainable and account for approximately 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions. When produced from renewable hydrogen, ammonia is considered a clean alternative, offering significant advantages in transport and storage — requiring only 11.72 bar of pressure or –33°C, compared to hydrogen’s 700 bar or –235°C.

The first edition of this conference, held in 2024, brought together over 200 professionals and highlighted the need for a dedicated space for technical dialogue on the role of renewable ammonia in the energy transition.

Aragon Hydrogen Foundation reaffirms its commitment to innovation and the development of technologies that support a sustainable and decarbonized future.
