RENMAD Hydrogen, the largest business forum on hydrogen in Spain, which brought together more than 300 company executives and experts on this energy vector in Zaragoza from 23 to 25 February, brought its first edition to a close with a visit to the Foundation for the Development of New Hydrogen Technologies in Aragon, whose headquarters are in the Walqa Technology Park. The attendees were able to see first-hand the different projects being developed by the Foundation in terms of production, supply and facilities, where different hydrogen technology applications are being tested. These activities are aimed at the creation of an industrial ecosystem or ‘hydrogen valley’ that is formed not only by the entities that belong to the Foundation’s board of trustees, but also by other national and European companies. These valleys contemplate the production and consumption of hydrogen as an energy source, as well as its transport, storage and integration in industrial processes, the creation of the technology itself, the promotion of R&D&I, training and regional policy to make it a reality as soon as possible.
The RENMAD Hydrogen congress has brought together all the parties involved in the value chain of this technology, from generation and regulation to demand and uses, as well as presenting the most relevant projects from the hand of its protagonists, and has highlighted the positive evolution of a sector that has Aragonese companies that are national and international benchmarks. Thus, the attendees had direct access to information on the procedures for processing hydrogen projects, which industries purchase renewable hydrogen in Spain and Portugal and at what price, the different types of electrolysers, the latest advances in storage and transport and how to produce renewable hydrogen at the lowest cost, as well as being able to share experiences and talk about the business opportunities it offers.
