The Director General of Industry and SMEs and Vice President of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Javier Navarro Espada, inaugurated the event, at which he highlighted the region’s potential and its leadership in the use of these technologies, as well as the favourable conditions for developing hydrogen projects in Aragon in different sectors such as logistics, agribusiness and the automotive industry. This event, held for the first time in person and which is intended to remain in the Aragonese capital, is a meeting point that brings together all the parties involved in the value chain of this vector, from generation and regulation to demand and uses, including transport, storage and the most striking projects that are currently being developed at national and international level.
The Foundation for the Development of New Hydrogen Technologies in Aragon participates with several speakers in the RENMAD Hydrogen business forum, the largest business forum on hydrogen in Spain, which has brought together in Zaragoza, from 23 to 25 February, more than 300 business executives and experts on the current situation of this energy vector that is positioning itself as the solution to decarbonise the planet and be the enabler of global industrial transformation.
Within the framework of this initiative, more than 50 speakers will offer the keys on how to promote, build and operate profitable renewable hydrogen projects in Spain and Portugal from a totally practical approach. Thus, attendees have access to direct information on the procedures for processing hydrogen projects, which industries buy renewable hydrogen in Spain and Portugal and at what price, comparison of different types of electrolysers, the latest advances in storage and transport and how to produce renewable hydrogen at the lowest cost, as well as being able to share experiences and talk about the business opportunities it offers.
In the introduction to the first session, the head of the Hydrogen area of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Pilar Sánchez, presented the current hydrogen situation in Spain.
The day continued with presentations and case studies on the design, construction and operation of renewable hydrogen projects to maximise efficiency and profitability, while the afternoon session dealt with electrolysis technologies. Our managing director of the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation, Fernando Palacín, presented the opportunities of renewable hydrogen for industry in Aragon prior to a round table on green hydrogen in the community in which the Trustees participated: Zoilo Ríos, Arpa, Inycom and Carbotainer, and the Technological Institute of Aragon (Itainnova) and the Engineering Research Institute of Aragon (I3A).
The session addressed specific renewable hydrogen projects. In this sense, the companies in the sector have put on the table more than 500 projects, whose investment exceeds 10,000 million euros. The first large-scale project has already started to produce renewable hydrogen in Mallorca and, according to the figures, many more are expected to follow. In the second part of the day, the presentations focused on hydrogen storage and transport infrastructures. On Friday, the forum will come to a close with a visit to the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation.
This event brought together more than 300 company executives and experts on the performance of this vector, which is positioned as the solution to decarbonisation.
