Aragon joins the new European hydrogen refueling stations map

The H2-Stations platform replaces E-HRS-AS to realign infrastructure data tracking with strict EU AFIR regulations.

The coordinates of sustainable mobility across the continent have been redefined. The data collection platform for hydrogen refueling infrastructures, technically known until now as E-HRS-AS, has officially announced its relaunch. The portal now operates under the H2-Stations Initiative brand (retaining its historical domain h2-map.eu). Commissioned by the Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking of the European Union and coordinated by the Spilett, ERM, and EMCEL consortia, this relaunch is far from a cosmetic change; it represents a critical step toward full compliance with the new Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).

Within this new digital roadmap for clean energy, the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation consolidates its position as a fundamental strategic hub. Our active inclusion in this reference European cartography places the infrastructure and technological capabilities of the Aragonese region at the forefront of the energy transition in Southwestern Europe.

A Regulatory Beacon for Sector Operators

The core essence of H2-Stations remains the same one that turned it into an industry-standard tool: providing reliable, public, and geolocalized information on the availability and operational status of European hydrogen refueling stations. However, community regulatory requirements have forced a deep transformation in data governance. With the entry into force of the AFIR framework, technical reporting obligations have become extraordinarily rigorous.

Under this new legal framework, operators are mandated to report static data (to be updated within 24 hours of any technical modification) as well as dynamic data streams. The latter must be transmitted practically in real-time—every 60 seconds—utilizing the standardized European DATEX II format. The revamped H2-Stations platform stands as a voluntary opt-in service designed to alleviate the administrative burden on operators by automatically evaluating the integrity and quality of the data parameters sent to National Access Points (NAPs).

Commencing a New Operational Phase

The rollout of this new phase involves a robust strategy of institutional and corporate cooperation. To instruct key stakeholders on the intricacies of AFIR compliance and data governance, the platform has scheduled a technical webinar. This session will serve as the launching pad for integrating new supply points and testing the system with selected station operators.

For the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation, our permanent presence on this reference European map not only showcases the infrastructure available in our community but also positions us at the testing table for the connectivity technologies that will define light and heavy-duty transport over the next decade. The transition toward zero-emission road transport now has a unified, precise, and firmly regulated cartographic network. Information regarding the specific availability of our hydrogen station will be available soon.
