"There is enough technology for safe hydrogen use"
After 15 years of activity, the Foundation for the Development of Hydrogen Technologies in Aragon is a benchmark in Spain in the use of this gas as an energy vector. The commitment to renewable energy by the European Union, and that of some countries in this part of the world in particular, confirm the suitability of developing actions that facilitate the use of green hydrogen. The Aragonese entity was born in 2004 and is based in the Walqa Technology Park, in Huesca.

The EU Hydrogen Strategy: Top 10 recommendations from Hydrogen Europe
Hydrogen Europe has released a new report: "The EU Hydrogen Strategy: Top 10 Recommendations from Hydrogen Europe". Meeting the EU’s long-term climate and energy goals and realising the promise of the Green Deal means carbon free power, increased energy system efficiency and deep decarbonisation of industry, transport and buildings. Achieving all this will require both electrons and molecules, and more specifically: clean hydrogen (renewable and low carbon hydrogen) at large scale.

Hydrogen trains to fight against pollution
Transport is one of the key sectors of polluting emissions. The promoters of the Coradia iLint hydrogen trains (developed by the French manufacturer Alstom) affirm that this type of fuel will be a green and efficient alternative.

Renewable gases can save around 5,000 million a year
The future carbon-free Spanish energy system will be cheaper by combining gas and electricity from renewable sources than by using only green electricity. Attending to the parameters used in international studies, the savings of the first option compared to the second will range between 3,000 and 7,000 million euros per year in 2050, according to a report from the Naturgy Foundation.

Hydrogen in the EU's Economic Recovery Plans
On May 27th, the European Commission published the recovery plan for Europe aimed at restarting the economy after the crisis caused by COVID-19. Based on this recovery plan, Hydrogen Europe has prepared a report on the supporting instruments, analyzing their impact on the European hydrogen and fuel cell industry.
|
Hydrogen is featured as a key sector that should receive support under the recovery plans especially due to its ability to bolster the longer-term objectives of the European Union, such as the EU Green Deal’s targets, climate-neutrality, and the EU’s strategic autonomy. Hydrogen and the hydrogen sector are explicitly mentioned multiple times across the Commission’s set of Communications.
